International Mine Health & Safety 2024

I recently spoke at this international conference in Perth, Australia where I presented on the topic of our paper “A practicable risk-based example of implementing new regulatory approaches using Queensland Recognised Standard 22 (Management Structure for the development and implementation of the SHMS)” - yes, it was the longest title of the entire conference!

The presentation gives a good overview of the work I’ve been doing at Zen Meerkat Pty Ltd including the common problems faced by our coal mining clients when first introducing Recognised Standard.

I also touch on why this is a good idea for the entire mining industry - competencies to ensure your Management Team is prepared to effectively manage safety and health risks, and indeed their legisalted obligations in this matter.
